Food Manager Certification (CFPM) (Virginia Only Currently)

In-person Food Manager Exam (Recertifications and Initial Certifications)

  • Includes a comprehensive review of subjects prior to the exam. The review is a refresher of all subjects that the exam will cover. The review takes about 1 1/2 hours and covers important topics in the areas of Managerial Responsibilities, Food Worker Health and Hygiene, Preventing Food Contamination, Facility Design, Equipment & Utensils, and Regulatory Compliance & Records.

  • For initial certifications, the course is completed online first. Taking the course online is beneficial because you can complete the course on your own time. The online course is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Vietnamese.

  • The in-person review is done in English, and the exam can be taken in English, Spanish, or Chinese (If Spanish or Chinese are chosen for the exam, the questions are also shown in English).

  • For recertifications, a copy of the previous CFPM certificate or transcript will be required when booking. With few jurisdictional exceptions, the online course does not need to be completed again for a recertification. This makes the review prior to the exam a valuable tool.

The personal touch helps with learning, knowledge retention, and exam performance!

Exams can be scheduled at your facility (minimum of 3 examinees), or you can check the regional schedule for dates in your area.

We partner with State Food Safety for online training and exam administration. State Food Safety is accredited by ANAB / ANSI, and is accepted in more areas than any other provider.

*Please note - The Chesapeake Health District requires that CFPM Training courses be completed for re-certifications as well as initial certifications, and the certification is only good for 3 years instead of 5.
